Jack Ma was born on October 15, 1964 in China. Jack Ma Started his studying English at an early age, conversing with English-speaking foreigners at the Hangzhou Hotel.  For nine years, you rode your bicycle 70 miles away to give foreign tourists a tour of your area to learn English from them.  He became friends with these foreigners, the tourists nicknamed him "Jack" because his Chinese name was too hard to pronounce and they couldn't pay him.

Later in his youth, Jack had a lot of trouble studying in college.  Chinese entrance exams were held only once a year and it took Jack 4 years to pass.  Jack Ma attended Hangzhou Institute and graduated with a BA in English.  During school, Jack Ma was the president of the school's student council.

After graduation, Jack Ma became a lecturer in English and international capital at Hangzhou Diazi University.  Later, he enrolled in the Chengdu Graduate School of Business and graduated from there in 2006.
